Voter Registration for 16+ Year Old Students and Family Members
The El Monte Union High School District encourages ALL our 16+-year-old students and family members to complete the Voter registration and cast their ballot on Election Day when you turn 18!
How to complete your voter registration:
Online pre-registration is available for eligible 16 and 17-year-old students by visiting this link. California youth who pre-register to vote will have their registration become active on their 18th birthday.
Pre-registration does not change the voting age, which is 18. Instead, it allows eligible Californians ages 16 and/or 17-year old students to complete the online voter registration form providing sufficient time and opportunity to get ready to vote.
The new online pre-registration applies to California youth who are 16 or 17 and meet the following criteria:
- A United States citizen and a resident of California,
- Not currently serving a state or federal prison term for the conviction of a felony (for more information on the rights of people who have been incarcerated, please see the Secretary of State's (Voting Rights: Persons with a Criminal History), and
- Not currently found mentally incompetent to vote by a court (for more information, please see Voting Rights: Persons Subject to Conservatorship)
We invite you to view the information below and share it widely with family, friends, neighbors, and other students. Please VISIT this link to register or pre-register to vote when you turn 16.
Note: If you are 18 or older, and have not registered to vote, you can follow the same process by visiting this link.
