Ready to Influence Student Excellence

The R.I.S.E. program offers a comprehensive support system for students facing academic or social-emotional challenges. Through early identification and targeted interventions, we help students overcome barriers and build a path toward long-term success.

Comprehensive Student Support Coordinators work closely with families and a multidisciplinary team to identify students using key Early Warning Indicators, such as:
• History of at-risk behaviors
• GPA trends
• Patterns of chronic truancy or absenteeism

R.I.S.E. interventions focus on realistic, achievable goals that promote steady progress and measurable improvement academically, socially, and emotionally.

What Is the R.I.S.E. Program?

R.I.S.E. (Ready to Influence Student Excellence) is an early-intervention program designed to help students set achievable goals and develop the academic, social, and emotional skills they need to thrive.

Our focus is on growth, not perfection. We support students in making steady progress toward success, one step at a time.

How Are Students Selected?

Students are identified for R.I.S.E. through a data-informed process led by the Comprehensive Student Support Coordinator. To qualify, students must meet at least 2 out of the 3 Early Warning Indicators (EWIs) listed below.

Eligibility:

Students must be in 9th or 10th grade

Early Warning Indicators (EWIs):

  • GPA between 0.75 – 2.2
  • 3 truancies or 8–15% absenteeism
  • 1 suspension or 2 or more Other Means of Correction (OMCs)

RISE Events

Celebrating Progress, Building Connections

At R.I.S.E., we believe that student success should be recognized and celebrated! Throughout the year, we host engaging events and activities that keep students motivated and connected. From Dropout Prevention Awareness Month to exciting field trip incentives like John’s Incredible Pizza, Dodgers STEAM day, and Knott’s Berry Farm, our experiences go beyond the classroom.

Students are rewarded for meeting goals, showing improvement, and staying on track—with everything from goodie bags and snack check-ins to our End-of-the-Year Celebration. These events not only recognize student effort but also build community, boost morale, and make success fun!

How We Support Your Success

At R.I.S.E., we believe that strong partnerships between families and school staff are essential for student growth. Our intervention process is built on collaboration and early action.

Before the Plan:

Teachers, Counselors, and Support Coordinators work together using a Student Observation Form to identify needs and gather valuable insights.

Intervention Plan:

A personalized support plan is developed with input from the student, their family, and the Comprehensive Student Support Coordinator. Counselors and other staff may be involved based on the student's needs.

Program Modifications May Include:

  • Flexible or alternative seating arrangements
  • Use of diagnostic and personalized learning tools
  • Access to counseling and emotional support services
