Resignation & Retirement Information

Retirement & Resignation InfoTransitioning into a new chapter of life is a significant milestone. Whether you are moving toward a well-deserved retirement or transitioning to a new professional endeavor, we are here to support you through the process.

Below, you will find the necessary steps, forms, and resources to ensure a smooth transition for both Certificated and Classified employees.

In order to initiate your separation from the District, please follow these steps:

  1. Submit Your Formal Notice: Complete the appropriate Resignation/Retirement packet (linked below) and submit it to your immediate supervisor. This packet contains all the general information regarding the process, reminders, frequently asked questions, and the form itself.

  2. Timeline:
Resignations: We request a minimum of two weeks' notice for Classified staff and 30 days for Certificated staff to assist with site planning.
Retirements: For those retiring, members may provide us notice up to 6 months prior to their anticipated retirement date. Your resignation date should be your last day of service. Your retirement date with your pension system (CalSTRS or CalPERS) typically begins the very next day.

  3. Exit Survey: We value your feedback. Upon submission of your form, you will receive a link to an optional confidential exit questionnaire.
