• Project 10 Million, Free Internet to All EMUHSD Students Who Need It EMUHSD is proud to be partnering with the Project 10 Million (P10M) program to provide our students FREE internet access to those who do not have reliable access at home. The P10M mission is to help 10 million high school students annually who do not have reliable Internet access at home reach their full potential by giving them mobile devices and free high-speed Internet access.

Why are we tackling this national problem here at EMUHSD? We have a serious Homework Gap in this country. 70% of America’s school teachers assign homework to be completed online, but more than 5 million families with school-aged children do not have reliable internet connectivity at home. This disconnect leads to dramatically inequitable outcomes among our students. Without access to these free internet services, the go-to solution is to do their homework at fast-food restaurants, where the Wi-Fi is free. Other students spend hours in restaurant parking lots. Many also wait in long lines at libraries to secure the time online to complete their homework. Again, this isn’t fair, it isn’t right and it doesn’t need to happen.

This is why EMUHSD and P10M are teaming together to eliminate the digital divide. In conjunction with our "Access for All" laptop initiative, the district will provide both a computer and internet access to all students who need it. It is our goal that by providing both programs, we will eliminate all barriers to learning and provide our students more time to learn, imagine, create, accomplish, and graduate.
