Dear El Monte Union Community,

It is with profound sadness that I share the news of the passing of Rosemead High School rising sophomore, Aziel Zacapala.

We understand this heartbreaking news may be difficult for members of our school community, particularly those who knew Aziel personally. El Monte Union Wellness Coordinator support will be available for both students and staff at Rosemead High School who may need assistance during this time.

This tragedy has deeply affected the Rosemead community and those who knew Aziel. Aziel was a promising member of the school’s football program. The District will continue to work with the Rosemead High School Administration on providing support services for students and staff impacted by this. If you require support, please contact a member of the RHS Administration by calling (626) 286-3141.

Aziel’s family has set up a GoFundMe account for financial support during this difficult time. Anyone interested in supporting the family can click on the following link: https://gofund.me/93fca5d14.

Please keep Aziel’s family, friends, classmates, and all those impacted by this loss in your thoughts. Thank you for your care and support of one another and our students during this difficult time.

Sincerely,

Edward Zuniga, Ed.D.
Superintendent
