El Monte Union Highlights Child Safety with Monthlong Awareness Campaign

Posted Date: 04/15/26 (03:45 PM)

Dear El Monte Union Community,

In recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month this April, El Monte Union High School District is reaffirming its commitment to student safety and well-being through a series of events led by school Wellness Centers across all campuses.

Students and staff are wearing blue today, Wednesday, April 15, in solidarity for Child Abuse Prevention Awareness, demonstrating their support for children and families. Wearing blue sends a meaningful message that student safety is a shared responsibility, and every child deserves to feel protected, valued, and supported.

Mountain View High School administrators, wellness center coordinators, and student volunteers hosted a “Take What You Need” lunchtime activity on April 15 in recognition of Child Abuse Prevention Awareness Month, spreading positivity while wearing blue in solidarity with the campaign and its message.

Throughout the month, Wellness Centers are hosting activities designed to promote awareness, connection, and prevention, including student-led discussions, pinwheel-making for hope and protection, trusted adult mapping exercises, interactive games, and educational workshops.

Additional events across campuses will include t-shirt distributions, sensory activities, and stress-awareness initiatives, aiming to engage students while reinforcing the importance of mental health and community support.

Through its ongoing “See Something, Say Something” campaign, El Monte Union encourages students, staff, and families to report concerns and support one another in maintaining safe school environments. Students can report concerns by speaking with a trusted adult, teacher, counselor, or school administrator, or by submitting an anonymous tip through the District’s online reporting system at EMUHSD.org/tips. In cases of immediate danger, individuals should call 911.

Families are also encouraged to stay connected and learn more about Wellness Center initiatives by following the District’s wellness program on Instagram at @emuhsdcares.

Thank you.
