El Monte Union High School District Recognized Among Top Districts in California

Posted Date: 10/30/25 (2:00 PM)

El Monte Union High School District (EMUHSD) and two of its campuses—Arroyo High School and El Monte High School—have been recognized among California’s top-performing institutions, earning placement on the Educational Results Partnership’s (ERP) 2025 Honor Roll.

The ERP Honor Roll recognizes schools and districts that consistently demonstrate high levels of student achievement, California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) scores, improvement over time, and reduced achievement gaps among historically underserved student populations. Approximately 21% of eligible districts statewide earned this distinction in 2025.

“This recognition reflects the dedication and hard work of our students, teachers, and staff,” EMUHSD Superintendent Dr. Edward Zuniga said. “Our rigorous academic programs, career pathways, and supportive learning environments allow our students to thrive and prepare for success in college, careers, and beyond.”

El Monte Union’s five comprehensive high schools, Arroyo, El Monte, Mountain View, Rosemead, and South El Monte, offer a range of programs supporting student achievement, including Advanced Placement (AP) and Honors courses, Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID), and world language instruction.

The District’s Career Technical Education (CTE) programs provide 15 pathways across 10 sectors, including dual enrollment opportunities with local colleges, giving students real-world experience and a head start on college credit. Family engagement is strengthened through initiatives such as the Parent Involvement Academy and college resource events, which empower parents to take an active role in their student’s education.

Arroyo High School was named a 2024 California Distinguished School for the second consecutive year, offering CTE programs in engineering design, graphic design, and food science, alongside award-winning music, arts and professional theater programs. El Monte High School provides CTE pathways in financial services, engineering and architecture, health science and medical technology, and information and communication technologies, complemented by visual and performing arts and athletic programs.

“The work our students and staff put in every day is what makes achievements like this possible,” Zuniga said. “We are proud of the recognition our high schools and District have earned, and we look forward to building upon this success in the years to come.”
