The Physical Education Department here at Fernando R. Ledesma High School consists of two periods of weight training and three periods of team sport. Students are expected to participate each day, by stretching, following daily activity plans and conducting themselves appropriately and responsibly in a social setting. During the course of the school year, the Physical Education program will examine two weight training classes, from beginner to advanced skill level: Activities that will be incorporated are, circuit training, body shaping, strength training, nutrition/diet and cardiovascular fitness. The remaining three periods will consist of team sports: basketball, volleyball, soccer, team handball and wiffle ball. Along with these activities, students will be able to work in small and individual group settings. Students will also participate in peer evaluations, chart individual progress and perform skills and written examinations at a high level. Students also have the opportunity to participate in quarterly weight training competitions against others of the same gender and weight class. Students may also participate in a biannual intramural basketball league, where if the student is able to meet all required days throughout the regular season and playoff rounds, they will earn five elective credits in Physical Education.
