The Art Department here at Fernando R. Ledesma High School consists of five periods of art courses.  The Art 1 course is designed to provide the beginning art student with an understanding and an appreciation of traditional and contemporary art forms.  The course emphasizes on the elements of art and principles of art.  The Art 2 course is designed to provide continuing art student with an understanding and an appreciation of traditional and contemporary art forms.  Student continue to develop their artistic experiences utilizing a variety of media and techniques.  Historical aspects are incorporated into each area of study.  Finally, the Art Appreciation course provides the student to understand artistic perception, creative expression, art history, historical and cultural context, aesthetic valuing and connections, relations and applications of the visual arts.  The course follows a chronological approach to the study of art history.
