• Goals:

    1. To ensure 50% of students demonstrate proficient on the CAST.
    2. AP?
    3. D and F rate?

    Plan of Action:

    1. Align instructional practices to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) - teacher focus, curriculum, instruction
      • In Non-AP Classes, teachers will change one or more specific lessons in order to align their instructional practices toward the NGSS.
      • Essential Questions:
        • Which specific lesson was changed to become aligned with the NGSS?
        • How exactly did they change that lesson?
        • Did the teacher(s) change one or more lessons to align them with the NGSS?
        • How will lessons and strategies shared/discussed at department meetings?
      • Notes:
        • The CAST (California Science Test) is operational during the 2018-2019 School year.
        • Results from the 2018-2019 Test will provide a baseline to compare subsequent results.
        • When the 2017-2018 results are released, we will be able to assess the advancements made during the 2018-2019 school year.
    2. Align Some of Our Assessments to the NGSS
      • In non-AP Classes, teachers will align one or more specific assessments to the Science and Engineering Practices, Disciplinary Core Ideas, and/or Cross-Cutting Concepts of the NGSS.  AP Teachers are also encouraged to do this.
      • Essential Questions
        • Which specific assessment was changed to become aligned with the NGSS?
