• Goals: By the end of the school year,

    1. Students taking Spanish 1 and Chinese 1 will be able to speak, write, read, and listen to the targeted language at least 25% of the time.
    2. Students in Spanish 1 and Chinese 1 will be able to exhibit at least 60% proficiency in writing, speaking, listening and reading of the targeted language.
    3. Students taking Spanish 2 and Chinese 2 will be able to speak, write, read, and listen to the targeted language at least 50% of the time.
    4. Students in Spanish 2 and Chinese 2 will be able to exhibit at least 60% proficiency in writing, speaking, listening and reading of the targeted language.
    5. Students taking Spanish 3 and Chinese 3 will be able to speak, write, read, and listen to the targeted language 75% of the time.
    6. Students in Spanish 3 and Chinese 3 will be able to exhibit 60% proficiency in writing, speaking, listening and reading of the targeted language.

    Plan of Action:

    1. Course alignments enforced (teachers, curriculum).
    2. Increase student conversation in the target language.
    3. Create common and/or unit assessments that include assessing student learning in writing, speaking, and listening in the target language.
    4. Structure instruction for the non-native and native Spanish courses that don’t overlap when moving from 2x to Spanish 3P (if opting not to enroll in AP courses).
    5. Course sequencing (1P to 2P to 3P and 1X to 2X to AP; however students after 2x students have the option to enroll in 3P instead of enrolling in an AP course; however, 3P is the third year for non-native speakers meaning it is an easier course that will not challenge students that have completed 2x because a lot of the content in 3P textbook and instruction has already been covered in 1X and 2x.
