6 El Monte Union Seniors Celebrate Recognition as QuestBridge Scholars, Will Attend Elite Universities

When South El Monte High School senior Ruben Carrazco joined the Upward Bound Math & Science program at Pasadena City College as a sophomore, he was laser-focused on strengthening his skill set so that he could attend an elite university. As a first-generation college goer, Carrazco dared to dream big, inspired by his mother’s advice to “échale ganas” or “give it all you’ve got.”

El Monte Union Celebrates Groundbreaking of Mountain View High’s Athletic Field

The El Monte Union High School District (EMUHSD) community came together in celebration of Mountain View High School’s (MVHS) Athletic Field Project during a groundbreaking ceremony on Jan. 10, which will include a high-performance rubberized track and field, bleachers, concession stands and restrooms, enhanced landscaping and a grand stadium entrance.

El Monte Union High School District hosted a swearing-in ceremony for its newly elected Board Member Qui Nguyen and re-elected Board Members Florencio Briones and Ricardo Padilla during its Dec. 14 Board of Trustees meeting.

El Monte Union Activities Clerk Honored with Bobby Salcedo Esperanza Award

For her willingness to go above and beyond and be a source of positivity for students during the school day, Paz, an Arroyo High School Class of 2008 alumna, has been honored as a Bobby Salcedo Esperanza Award recipient by the El Monte Promise Foundation. Paz received her award at the Foundation’s annual Tamalada Gala on Dec. 8.
