Junior Year
Dear Junior Student and Parent or Guardian:
Consider the following as you approach your junior year.
GPA
- Maintain a high GPA
- Use summer school to make up any classes
SAT/ACT Testing
- Required for most four-year universities
- Register online at www.collegeboard.com or www.actstudent.org.
- Take at least one ACT or SAT.
- Practice tests for the SAT are available on www.KhanAcademy.org.
- See Ms. Torres in the Career Center for a fee waiver.
DURING THE SUMMER
- Create an account with calstate.edu/apply
- Keep a notebook with all college information, log in, password and ID’s (It is hard to recover passwords and personal information.)
- Explore colleges on Californiacolleges.edu
- Visit UC websites and review majors
- Start your UC application and personal insight questions
- Visit Common App website for private colleges/universities
SENIOR YEAR
- Take rigorous classes
- Take math and science classes (highly recommended)
EXTRA-CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES
- Keep a list all activities, awards, clubs, and service hours.
- Get involved if you have not done so.
COLLEGE ATHLETICS ELIGIBILITY
- Planning to participate in athletics in college? You must register with the NCAA at https://web3.ncaa.org/ecwr3

COLLEGE VISITS
- All junior and senior families are invited to attend EMUHSD College Fair. College representatives will be present. This is a district wide activity.
- College representatives visit throughout the year. Please check with the Career Center.
