Stay at Home/Safer at Home During Pandemic
On March 19, the state and county, respectively, issued “Stay at Home” and “Safer at Home” orders designed to help stem the spread of COVID-19 and increase social distancing protocols.
The orders bar gatherings of 10 or more people and calls on residents to stay inside their homes as much as possible, except to take care of essential needs. While the state's order has no sunset date, the county's order is in effect through April 19, 2020, with the possibility of extension.
In keeping with the orders and to promote social distancing efforts, all school offices and the District Office are closed until further notice. Only essential workers – including payroll, custodial staff and food services personnel – will be asked to come in to perform duties. Students will be engaged through distance learning through the end of the 2019-20 school year.
The orders require residents to:
- Stay home as much as possible (walks and outdoor exercise is OK)
- Only go out for essential services (visiting the doctor, picking up food, working in a business deemed essential)
- Avoid overcrowding and observing social distancing (6 feet whenever outside of the home)
- Avoid group gatherings (10 people or less)
