Arroyo High Student Recognized for Academic Excellence
Arroyo High School senior Albert Tran, who is in the Top 5% of the graduating class, is among the 34,000 students from across the nation to be named a Commended Student by the National Merit Scholarship Program for his performance on the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/MSQT), taken during junior year.
Tran is enrolled in the most rigorous coursework available at Arroyo High School, including Advanced Placement (AP) English Literature, AP Government, AP Calculus BC and AP Physics C.
He recently entered his fourth year as a member of Senior Band and has participated in the jazz ensemble for two years. He actively volunteers in the school community and is a member of Arroyo's Leo Club. He plans on attending a four-year university, major in engineering and become an aerospace engineer.
Although they will not continue in the 2020 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 105 million students who entered the 2020 competition by taking the exam in 2018.
