El Monte Union celebrated the vital support and assistance of District volunteers with an Italian-themed “Grazie” reception during the inaugural Volunteer Recognition luncheon, held May 8 at Grace Black Auditorium.
El Monte Union Superintendent Dr. Edward Zuniga greeted the 33 volunteers, who included parents, community members, employees and a student.
“As a volunteer, you are a big part of our school community and you make a difference in the lives and well-being of our students,” Zuniga said. “Your service to our school community does not go unnoticed and each and every one of you has been selected for the outstanding contributions you have made. Our students and staff will forever be grateful for your volunteer work.”
Honorees received certificates and gift bags commemorating their investment and commitment to supporting students and staff throughout the school year.
“We are so fortunate that we have these special people who are ready at a moment’s notice to assist in whatever way they can,” said Edith Echeverria, the District’s Director of Assessment, Accountability and Family Engagement. “We felt that they deserve their own recognition and celebration.”
