El Monte Union Celebrates Strong Gains in Graduation, English Learner Progress, and College Readiness

The California School Dashboard’s 2024 update showed El Monte Union High School District students have made considerable gains in several indicators, including a 5% boost in graduation rates, a 7% jump in English learner progress, and a 10% surge in college and career readiness. These milestones reflect the District’s continued commitment to excellence in student achievement and engagement.

“Seeing our students excel across these indicators reaffirms our commitment to fostering an environment where every learner can thrive,” Superintendent Dr. Edward Zuniga said. “This data not only celebrates our students’ hard work and dedication but also reflects the tireless efforts of our educators and staff to prepare them for a bright future.”

The California School Dashboard provides comprehensive data for parents and educators, enabling informed decision-making to enhance student learning, with the 2024 Dashboard published on December 1. Overseen by the California Department of Education, the Dashboard offers insights into state and local performance indicators, including academic achievement in English Language Arts and Mathematics, chronic absenteeism, suspension rates, and more.

The District’s recent performance on the California School Dashboard highlights both significant progress and areas for growth. While we are encouraged by improvements in key areas, we remain focused on enhancing mathematics achievement through structured assessments, curriculum alignment, teacher professional development, targeted interventions, and stakeholder collaboration. The Dashboard also offers critical insights into opportunities for growth, particularly in English Language Arts, and we are committed to leveraging this data to strengthen outcomes and support the success of all students.
