Superintendent's Thanksgiving Message to All Families

 Dr. Zuniga

Dear El Monte Union High School District Community,

Thanksgiving is a time of gratitude and reflection, a time to appreciate the good in our lives and remain hopeful for what is yet to come. As we have endured many months of hardship together this school year, our hope for a way out of this pandemic lies in how we must express our gratitude to one another this holiday season.

With the start of the holiday season, we must all do our part to combat the spread of this deadly virus. I encourage you all to remain diligent in taking precautions to keep you and your loved ones healthy and safe. One of those precautions is getting vaccinated. We will continue to work with community partners to make vaccines more available. Once again, EMUHSD will host a vaccine clinic at our District Office on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2021. For more information, please click here. The district also continues to monitor and evaluate current local and district cases and will adjust our own health and safety protocols accordingly.

Please remember that all EMUHSD students participating in in-person instruction and staff working on-site will be required to be vaccinated by January 3, 2022. Please visit for more information on the District’s Vaccine Mandate. There are a number of resources available through the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health including various testing locations. Visit: (English) and (Spanish) to find a vaccination site near you, make an appointment at vaccination sites, and much more.

I want to express my sincere appreciation for all of the EMUHSD employees who make our District truly special. We have come together to support our students, their families, and the entire community throughout this pandemic. Thank you to our families for working alongside our schools as we continue to navigate all of the uncertainty that this year has brought. We know that it has not been easy nor has it been ideal but, together we have worked to make the best of our circumstances for our students and provided them with meaningful and engaging educational experiences.

On behalf of The El Monte Union High School District Trustees, I wish you a very Happy Thanksgiving and I send you best wishes for a holiday filled with joyous moments with family and friends.

Edward Zuniga, Ed.D
