  • El Monte Union Seniors Celebrate Futures with College Signing Events

    Hundreds of graduating seniors from El Monte Union’s comprehensive high schools celebrated their commitments to colleges and universities during College Signing Day ceremonies in May. Arroyo, El Monte, Mountain View, Rosemead and South El Monte high schools celebrated seniors pursuing their academic endeavors and showcased the college-going culture each campus has cultivated to inspire and prepare students for success.

  • Wendy MacLellan Named 2019 Classified Employee of the Year

    El Monte-Rosemead Adult School receptionist Wendy MacLellan has been named El Monte Union's 2019 Classifed Employee of the Year. MacLellan has worked at the front desk of the adult school, greeting thousands of students throughout the year and helping them enroll in their classes.

  • El Monte Union Celebrates LGBTQ Pride Month

    Dozens of El Monte Union community members gathered on Valley Boulevard on May 15 to raise a rainbow flag that will fly at the District office throughout June in celebration of LGBTQ Pride Month. The event was held to celebrate the identities and contributions of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer community and ensure students belonging to the community feel supported and included.

  • Rosemead High Science Olympiad Team Recognized by Board of Trustees

    The Rosemead High School Science Olympiad team was recently honored by the El Monte Union Board of Trustees for finishing in the Top 30 of the Southern California State Science Olympiad Tournament, which took place April 6 at Caltech. It was Rosemead's fifth appearance at the state competition since 2008.

  • Mountain View Student Wins 32nd Congressional District Art Competition

    Mountain View High student Nancy Hoang was named the winner of the 2019 Art Competition for the 32nd Congressional District, represented by Rep. Grace F. Napolitano. Hoang won first place with her colored pencil drawing, “Orange Fish.” For the next year, Hoang’s work will hang in the Cannon Tunnel of the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. alongside other winning pieces of art from across the country.

    Just weeks after going head to head in the kitchen to see who could prepare the most appetizing cuisine during the District’s inaugural Cooking Showdown, three El Monte Union student teams waited in anticipation at the Board of Trustees meeting on May 1 to find out who would be named the winner. Arroyo High School won with its dish, the Arroyo Volcano Power Bowl.
