  • 2019-20 Spending Plan Aims to Boost Achievement for All

    The El Monte Union Board of Trustees on June 19 adopted a $135 million 2019-20 budget that supports its Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP), which calls for developing wellness centers, additional afterschool enrichment programs and implementing a new data analysis platform that will allow teachers to collaborate and modify instruction to ensure student success.

  • El Monte Union Summer Bridge Program Helps Freshmen Transition to High School

    More than 270 freshmen set to launch their high school careers in El Monte Union this fall recently completed the District’s Summer Bridge program, during which they took field trips to local colleges, universities and museums, met high school faculty and staff, and learned about the requirements for high school graduation and how to prepare for college.

  • El Monte Promise Foundation Wins $448K Grant to Bolster Student College Savings Accounts

    The El Monte Promise Foundation has won a $448,000 Every Kid Counts state grant that will enable the nonprofit to expand its college savings program for K-12 students, including those enrolled in El Monte Union schools. The Foundation’s 529 college savings plan allows parents/guardians to open tax-free accounts on behalf of their child, save money and help defray unexpected costs. Students are eligible to receive state matching grants and other financial incentives from the Foundation upon opening an account.
