• How to connect the Mifi to the Chromebook?

    Posted by:

Your Technology Take Home backpack offers a Mifi and Chromebook, which have already been paired to use together. Simply turn on the MiFi first by holding down its power button until you see the lights turn on. Next power on the Chromebook. You can pair up to 4 additional devices to the MiFi provided, using the wifi name and password provided on the device or the resource card that is included with the bundle. You can also choose to use a public or home internet access connection with your Chromebook if you have access to a connection to do so. If that is the case, simply power off the provided Mifi and change the wifi settings within the Chromebook. Here's a support article to assist you with this process.

  • Is the internet filtered?

    Posted by:

Yes, it is mandatory for all school districts to provide internet filtering on devices provided to students due to federal CIPA compliance regulations. Even if you do not use the provided MiFi device and connect to a home /public internet access, the Chromebook itself will still have internet filtering enabled for any connection. By default, only websites deemed necessary for educational purposes will be available to students. If you find that a website is being blocked and you feel it should not be or it is required for your assignment, please notify the library staff for us to review the website category.

  • Is there max on the internet usage per day?

    Posted by:

Yes, by default the MiFi device is limited to 500MB per day and will reset it's counter at 12am nightly. Please understand that streaming music or videos for lengthy amounts of time will cause this daily limit to exceed quickly.

  • What if the device is damaged?

    Posted by:

If any of the devices become damaged while checked-out to the student, it is the student's responsibility to notify the school library immediately in order to limit or avoid any additional damage. Accidents do happen, we are aware, but depending upon the circumstances of the damage done to any portion of the Technology Tack Home bundle, the student may incur fines and/or removal from eligibility for the check-out program.

  • Can you print with a Chromebook?

    Posted by:

Yes, of course, you can print using your Chromebook as long as you have either a physical cable to connect to the printer (typically a USB cable) or the printer is available wirelessly through the WiFi network (Note: this may require connecting your Chromebook to the same WiFi connection the printer is on, if choosing to print wirelessly). For directions on how to print from a Chromebook, use this provided Google Print tutorial page.
