  • How is Office 365 different from Microsoft Office?

    Posted by:

"Office 365" refers to subscription plans that include access to Office applications plus other productivity services that are enabled over the Internet (cloud services), such as Lync web conferencing and additional online storage with OneDrive.

"Microsoft Office" is the name Microsoft still uses for their productivity software. Office suites have traditionally included applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. All the new Office suites (for example, Office 2016) include the latest versions of these applications. These suites can be installed on only one PC and do not come with any cloud-based services included in Office 365.

  • What is OneDrive?

    Posted by:

OneDrive provides storage in "the cloud" so that you can keep and share all of your documents, photos and videos even if something happens to your computer or device. OneDrive works with Microsoft Office and also can be accessed across different devices. OneDrive provides unlimited personal cloud storage, meaning, you don't have to worry about running out of space! A common use of OneDrive at schools is for storage of important files, assignments, and lesson plans. It can also be used as a way to collaborate with students, allowing them to "share" assignments with you rather than turning in a hard copy. Note: Please keep in mind that all EMUHSD students and staff use Google Drive for all online storage currently, OneDrive is just Microsoft's equivalent application for online storage capability.
